several children got the answer to this.
the basics r that he gets on top, and swings his tail under and rubs it on her. usually he grabs on to some feathers.
some birds do it perching. the chickens did it on the ground.

some birds have a courting thing, but chickens dont. had a neighbor who hated the roosters cuz she considered it rape.
