Not too long after the 'fightin' little judge' Gov. George Corley Wallace made good on his promise to 'stand in the schoolhouse door'.
"Segregation NOW! Segregation TOMORROW! Segregation FOREVER!"

I was a Deke pledge and far more interested in what was happening at the fraternity house (PAR-TAY!) than in classes.

As a result, I only flunked out of school twice.
But that's another story.
