8. In 1981

(I was in my mid-thirties) I was lying in bed one night eating pretzels and watching highlights of the royal wedding (Diana and Charles) on TV. I dozed off and when I woke up a little later, Laura Brannigan was singing and ultra cool people were dancing in a nightclub to the newest dance craze, the Disco. They were dressed beautifully, and everyone’s hair was stylish and the women’s makeup made them all look like movie stars. Colored lights reflected off mirrored globes hanging from the ceiling. What glamour! Exhausted from so much excitement, with the royal wedding + seeing disco all in one night, I went back to sleep and stayed that way till morning.
