Sculptor Richard Serra has passed

1. I was going to go work in his NYC studio prepping canvases, getting coffee, etc after graduating from high school

called him for last minute arrangements when he said "I only hire people who really need to work."

Instead of telling him "that is definitely me," I said, "OK, I understand," thinking others need it more than I.

That was a major turning point in my life. Before that I painted all day between classes etc. Didnt take long to come home to the islands.
