Unlocker was always an easy and reliable tool for unlocking files but has begun bundling really stubborn Adware with the program. The article mentions the adware but I wanted to reiterate that there is virtually no opt-out option during install. I would recommend getting a portable version of Unlocker if someone chooses to try that program rather than let it install.

I, personally, have downloaded FilExile to test. I don't get many erroneously locked files since switching to Win7 (one in 3 or 4 years) but will be looking to give it a test run. It looks similar to Unlocker but since it is from Sourceforge should be a cleaner program.
