Native-born Europeans aren't having enough babies anymore to maintain the population, just like in the US. If it weren't for immigrants, far more nations would be like Japan, with negative growth rates.

Not that it's a bad thing to have fewer children, but from an economic standpoint it's devastating to see your workforce declining and your population aging.
