Hurricane Irene hit these parts in 2011 and the flooding and devastation was unprecedented, power outages for days! I visited my former summer camp in Vermont awhile after that and I could still see the water line from the lake flooding, it was several stories high and completely washed away all the cabins on the beach level and all the roads were washed out - And Irene, as devastating as it was here in New York, it was mild compared to what we're hearing about Melissa!
