... shouldn't your wife have taken some of the responsibility in seeing that her family was kept under control? For that matter, the two of you could have discussed it ahead of time and planned on a course of action. I'm guessing she must realize the difficulty this family get-together is for you. Maybe there's a way you can ask her to be your partner so that the burden is not all on you.

I'm sorry you had to go through this. It couldn't have been enjoyable for you. However you did succeed in getting through it with your resolve intact.
