14. How was the shot itself? I ask because I used to work with a guy

who had been a minor league pitcher. He developed a shoulder problem, and the doctor told him he was going to give him a cortisone shot, and then left the room.

He returned with a syringe, and three large men. The guy asked what the men were for. The doctor told him they were there to hold him (the patient) while the shot was administered. The doctor proceeded to put the needle into his shoulder and moved it around until he started screaming in pain. At that point the cortisone was injected.

The Dr. told him he wouldn’t be able to raise his arm the next day. The second day he’d be able to comb his hair, and the third day he could resume throwing, all of which proved to be true.
