Even more, the rally we're attending is in Kansas City, KS... a notably Mexican American, Democratic part of the city. We're going to try to be prepared for anything. Like you, I'm bringing my cane cause I know I'll need mobility support. We're both up on flu and covid shots. But I hadn't thought about bringing water or snacks with us. Thanks for the reminder! We really needed it during the Spring No Kings, and luckily they were passing out small bottles to everyone who needed some... and I did at that point, I was getting way too overheated.

Hubby is just over walking pneumonia... I'm still fighting it, just finished my antibiotic regimen. Thinking about asking my doc for a round of prednisone to maybe help with the strength and walking. She knows I'm extremely politically active, so I think she'll help. She's also more cued in to the damage being done this time around, too.

I'm expecting to see authorities of some kind. I don't think we'll be as lucky as we were in Spring. There, we were in a democratic bubble surrounded by red, but the law enforcement was really on our side. This time, I don't think we'll be that lucky. This is a predominantly Mexican American area. I loved it for the decade I spent living there, but it does clue me in to some of the problems we might have. I believe we have a CeCot not far and I'm sure KCMO has detention areas, as well. He's mentioned putting troops in KCMO before. I'm afraid ICE will see this a jackpot of arrests just waiting for them. But we refuse to let it stop us. We made a lot of good friends when we lived there... and 2 different sets of next door neighbors were undocumented back then. We all helped each other out. Obviously, it's not a well-to-do area, but when you've got good neighbors you've got treasure worth more than money, itself. That's why we decided to go that rally... to support the area and the people -- as well as to express our rage against trump.
