The ONLY other reason (and I'm not thinking this is likely) they might have stopped you is because that black, loud vehicle contained someone doing some kind of undercover sting deal--something wingnuts are known for, maybe guns or meth...? They SAW you noticing and didn't want you to get involved in an undercover op. I think this is probably just slightly more likely than pigs flying, but I thought I'd toss it out there, as a remote possibility.

If you know those cops (and get along with them), I'd ask 'em. Not so much about your stop, but if they saw the traffic violations and why they didn't stop the guy...?

My mind goes where yours is going though. I drive a shitbox, so I only have to be careful about keeping everything operating properly--no lights out, use that turn signal, etc.
