Past the perfection number of views of 888! As an experiment, it might be noted by the date that things hinted at by the play happened after the writing, which already came from many discussions of the satire subject's fast approaching Judgment Day and his flight from consequences by lashing out. Sadly, the slightest intimation of worry on the part of this ruined soul, he is in an Ubuesque habit of denying. By picking out Ubu(based on a dumb tyrannical schooteacher) and Dr. Faust(a lecherous German(?) professor/alchemist(?)) I seemed doomed in my determination to give the character a chance. The play itself is a "friendly" warning to a certain person no one here on DU is inclined to be hopeful about. In fact, the projection of this willfully damned soul is to destroy everyone else's hope and tyrannize his victims.
Continuing Dante's depiction of Satan as a self punishing moron intent on blaming and punishing others. Dante also had a very political bent in his work.
All use of the three act in the above posts is in public domain. The works of Christopher Marlowe, Alfred Jarry, and Goethe are too!
To the determined damned on top of our imperfect government: THERE IS STILL TIME! REPENT!
