Further, the article specifically says he was fired solely for the time of his coming out...though Like I said in my edit I wouldn't blame anyone if they thought his orientation or his relationship were major (or even deciding) factors as well.

Besides it not like we haven't had priests who had illicit relationships and kept their jobs, or even a few popes...[/font]
