11. Black holes can explode and disappear

if they're small enough, as Stephen Hawking showed. But the lifetime of a large black hole is many times the age of the universe. For all practical purposes it's permanent. The only thing it can do is suck in more matter and grow bigger. It's sort of like the vacuum monster in "Yellow Submarine".
