The author's bias is highlighted in many comments such as: "This quirky-living-alone topic is really a non-starter."

When singles make up 25% of households in most areas of the country and half of households in more urban precincts, attempting to paint them as any sort of alien species seems quirky indeed.

My experience is the opposite of what the author sees. I have no sugar, white flour or ice cream in my kitchen. I eat lots of fruits and veggies and little meat. Most people I encounter are in recovery or suffer from some sort of addiction, many of them involving foods.

If I had a roomie, I'd feel guilty that I had to share time if they requested. But I'd never dream that I could demand they join me at the gym or keep up with me on those 50-60 mile bike rides I love.
