(17,505 posts)I keep seeing things like:
"She's the most qualified candidate we've ever had!"
Which is absurd. The only office she's ever been elected to was NY Senator. First Lady and SoS were handed to her. Has she done anything stellar in any of these positions? I mean, she's not a complete incompetent, but is she just the greatest? I don't think so. Her Healthcare Plan in the 90s, she lost the last primary..... she's just not so invincible and amazing. It's like Oprah or something. Just what is so great?
There are starry eyed idealists on both sides, but I think many more on Hillary's. It stems from that initial "it's her turn" attitude, I think. Sanders is not perfect. But he has goals worth reaching for and maybe even attaining! Clinton (even sounds old fashion..... so 20th century!) really is the "No We Can't" candidate. Really.... "let's just tread water for another 4 years" is the feeling I get from her. Her supporters are like cultists sometimes.
In the most realistic grounded bare sense, Sanders can certainly do no worse than Clinton, and most likely better. There is not an irrational hatred and long list of baggage associated with Sanders. I think he has a better chance of working with conservatives. His goals are ambitious but just reaching for them will make things better.
