(62,325 posts)I don't expect all of them to win, and there will be more of course, just found another one today who has announced. Take the Mid Terms eg, we supported ONLY progressives, no more Third Wayers will get any support from the base who are sick and tired of watching them vote with Repubs on major issues.
What happened? Turnout was so low during those midterms, the Party should ask itself why. But progressives went out to KEEP the Progressives and succeeded for the most part, while most of the Third Way were unable to get the support they needed. I call THEM 'flukes'.
Not to mention voters focused on local elections, seeing how DC doesn't much care about them they decided, across the country to get their issues on LOCAL ballots and succeeded across the country.
A political movement takes time, but apparently the DNC didn't notice, it started when they refused to provide candidates the base could have supported. Bernie is just the next step and has done so well BECAUSE of the mood of the voters who no longer care what the party wants, because it is so out of touch with them, see Hillary eg.
The Dem party has lost 12% of its registered members since 2008. Did you ever ask why?
They are only coming back, some of them, to vote for Bernie.
Iow, Hillary's numbers among Dems, now tied nationally with Bernie and in some polls he's now ahead of her, make up only about 15% of what she will need to win the GE. He is doing better than she against the Repubs.
I do not think Bernie will win SC, but he has already closed the gap there and with more time he could have. But that won't matter as he goes forward and his campaign focuses on Delegates.
Country is changing. There are some great candidates on that list, and some will win. And next election more will win, until the Dem Party once again begins to represent the PEOPLE.
No one expects it to happen overnight, it took decades to take it away from the people and put it in the hands of the Third Way.
