(41,140 posts)after Nancy Regan's funeral bringing up the Reagans, particularly Nancy's "very effective but low key advocacy on AIDS." During the interview HC talked at length and was Not tired. The comments she added were offensive and intentional, especially to the millions of people who lost family members and loved ones like we did, all because of Pres. Ronald Reagan's refusal for years to approve funding for AIDS research, and only when heterosexuals began experiencing the disease. Any attempt to try to cover up or excuse the lies is worse ~ My little brother died far too young in 1992 at the height of the crisis because of this unforgivable bigotry and prejudice. In 1991-92 when Bill Clinton's name came up my brother shook his head I recall. We're longtime Democrats and to this day I wonder why he did not like Clinton then.

Mrs. Reagan also stood by as her husband stayed silent during the AIDS crisis. The President waited years before mentioning it publicly, impeding government action as thousands and thousands died.
