2016 Postmortem

(58,785 posts)officials are supposed to serve all the people, and half of the people of our nation are conservative, and proudly so (usually). They're not going anywhere, we're not going anywhere, and we can't be at war with ourselves if we are going to advance our nation.
Conservatives have been deluded into moving to the far right through the investment of billions of dollars in mass manipulations over 40 years, but that doesn't mean many aren't finally looking around in 2016 and realizing they have been lead deep into a hole they never intended.
In 2016 we have a chance to draw a few people out of that hole, to break the hold rapacious special interests have on them and thus on our local, state, and federal governments.
You want to see government cleaned up? Well, this is a critically necessary step - to build the kind of united progressive majority that FDR had in the '30s so that we can do it too. The chance the implosion of the GOP gives us means our leaders absolutely have a duty to try.
