Romney's problem is that he doesn't have a whole lot on the economy for anyone except rich people.
While he was Governor of Massachusetts the state was ranked 47th (out of 50 of course) in job creation.
I personally witnessed jobs fleeing the state after he took office. I live in a neighboring state but have worked in MA for most of my working life.
He has no foreign policy experience at all, other than financial deal-making with global financiers. That translates to big profit for few, not fair governance for all. Also, the work he did for the Olympics basically boils down to the same setup - big-money bigwigs wheeling and dealing amongst themselves. I saw a list of people he wants to bring onto his team, and it's basically a who's who of the W. Bush foreign policy team.

So I think at this point he's sort of stuck. If the Supremes strike down the mandate he may get a little bit of mileage out of the HC law.
But when he and President Obama get onto a debate stage together, I fully expect Mitt to be backed into a corner and say some outrageous stuff that shows everyone his true colors.
