In reply to the discussion: Sanders says hes on verge of pulling off major political upset [View all]Orrex
(65,840 posts)The most common mistake I see in Sanders' supporters on DU, aside from their propensity to attack anyone outside of the flock, is the insistence that Clinton supporters are devoted to her in the same way or with the same ferocity that Sanders' supporters are devoted to him. No one has circulated memes associated Clinton with the Messiah, for instance.
I support Clinton because she is the stronger candidate by every real measure that I have seen to date. I support her because Sanders has no real track record of dealing with the GOP attack machine--and in fact his supporters even dismiss the reality of that machine. I support Clinton because it seems much more likely that she would win in November 2016.
I do not share her entire vision, nor do I imagine her to be without flaws. I vote for her because neither Sanders nor his supporters--despite their overwhelming devotion--have persuaded me that their candidate is more realistically viable than she is.
But I'm no cultist, and I've neither sworn nor demanded any loyalty oaths. If Bernie lands on the ticket, I will happily vote for him. Sanders' supporters consistently label as a "Thirdwayer" (or some similar disparagement) anyone who doesn't support their beloved candidate. That is a simplicity of vision that betrays their own naive and cult-like thinking, enabling them to imagine themselves as the only special ones who really "get it."
Your childish insults do not impress and they do not persuade.
