6:35 p.m. update:
By 6:15 p.m., about 2,300 people have signed up to testify, and two more overflow rooms have been opened for a total of 11 in the Capitol Extension.
James Stewart of College Station began his testimony with a prayer seeking blessings for himself and his audience, then said he wanted to speak for those who are rarely heard from in the abortion debate: men who do not get to be fathers or brothers.
My sister had an abortion. I dont get to be the uncle to that child, that innocent little life that got taken. I never got to know him, Stewart said. At least with this bill, it would assure the fathers, the uncles and so on that the baby that gets taken away from them would at least feel no pain.
Jane Norwood of Austin call the bill a government overreach and intrusion into our personal lives.
