3. Do you have a blood glucose meter?

If not, the doctor should give you one at your next appointment.

Someone posted a link to a blog in a thread here about testing, and it was very helpful. I'm sharing it below.

I've done extensive testing after eating to determine which foods spike my levels, and which foods don't. Doctors give lots of advice, but the patients are the ones who have to manage the diabetes. Meds help, so does changing or modifying ones diet. But testing helps us figure out which foods are best and worst for us. For example, I learned I can have 1/2 a bagel, but if I have a whole one my numbers spike. I can eat brown rice, but not pasta. Some folks eat what they want because they are taking meds, but I think it's better to control it by diet as much as possible. Good luck.
