OPSEC stands for Operational Security which basically is denying an adversary of information regarding capabilities, intentions, planning, and execution of national and operational security plans.

COMSEC is Communication Security which is the protection of all forms of communication by our adversaries as well as other nations and non-nation actors.

Using an unauthorized and non-secured app to communicate violates both OPSEC and COMSEC. Had these idiots been in the military, they would have been arrested, in jail, and awaiting a court martial.
