The 'incredibly dangerous' conspiracy theory becoming increasingly mainstream on the right - Velshi - MSNBC [View all]

The "Great Replacement” is a far-right conspiracy theory that posits elites are conspiring to replace America’s white, Christian populations with nonwhite immigrants. It has gone from fringe manifestos to right-wing mainstream. "These are not just words that our politicians speak, they're messages that seep into members of the population who then take it upon themselves to go take action, including violent action" Director of Research at The Soufan Group Colin P. Clarke tells Ali Velshi.

American University professor and author of the new book "Man Up: The New Misogyny and the Rise of Violent Extremism" Cynthia Miller Idriss adds, “We often overlook the role that gender plays" in these conspiracies, which often include "an obsession with white women's reproductive capacity.” - Aired on 09/20/2025.
