Democrats Force Debate on Ohio Results - NYT 1:42PM |
|
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-Electoral-Vote.html?oref=loginIt's an AP story: Sixteen minutes into the session when Ohio's votes were read, Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, issued her challenge, saying the votes ``were not under all of the known circumstances regularly given.''
Her challenge to Ohio's 20 electoral votes -- which put Bush over the top -- was joined by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. By law, a protest signed by members of the House and Senate requires both chambers to meet separately for up to two hours to consider it. Lawmakers are allowed to speak for no more than five minutes each.
``I have concluded that objecting to the electoral votes from Ohio is the only immediate way to bring these issues to light by allowing you to have a two-hour debate to let the American people know the facts surrounding Ohio's election,'' Boxer wrote in a letter to Tubbs Jones, a leader of the Democratic effort. Many other quotes from the first hour.

2. Wow! A whole 2 hours of discussion about massive voter fraud |
|
I can see it now, R: "Did not!" D: "Did too!" R: "Did Not!" D: "Did too!" Etc., etc...
Oh well, at least it's something.
Good for those with the courage and conviction to try to save our democracy.

3. At least it's not total silence and submission. |

I would have given up on the Democratic Party if they had sat and done nothing. And I'm going to remember the Democrats that took a stand and the ones that haven't.

all know there are compromising photos of them with various forbidden people, locked in certain people's safes.
That is one of the advantages of women officeholders -- not that they are all Mother Teresa, but perhaps fewer of them have documented affairs? That can be used to blackmail them?

I want Stephanie Tubbs Jones to be my President! No, I want Barbara Boxer to be my President! No, I, I, I, I can't decide!
I want them both to be President, but we can't have two at once! Damn.
Good God, what a pair of magnificent women those two are.
Hey, Senators Kerry and McCain, yes, you the war heroes: Who's yo' mama now? Who has the courage now? Who are the heroines who are standing up for the same Constitution that you also promised to defend and uphold?
What's that? I can't hear you...
Why don't the both of you do us a favor and stay the fuck in the holes you've crawled into recently, and let these women--the ones who know the real meaning of leadership and public service have the floor.
If you would be so kind.
Senator Boxer and Congresswoman Jones, I salute you.

11. we're stuck with Bush...unlesss.... |
|
The Supreme Court case in Ohio yields good results...though I think the Republican judge is gonna throw it away...
maybe this is good for the country...maybe the U.S. needs to go through 4 more years of horror to learn its lesson.
Next time around, seniors will be WIDE awake at the horror of a Bush social security killing administration...
but...history will never forgive the nation for these 8 years of Bush.
