7. That's not terribly graphic -
had the same pic been in color, THAT would need a graphic warning.

9. I thought about it.
I decided that everyone needs to see this, so there is no doubt in their minds.

If they get angry, that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

2. Using an image link for this might have been advisable.
How do I link to an image without having it embedded directly in my message?

To post a link to an image without having the image embedded directly in your message, just add a question mark at the end and type a few letters, like so: ?click

11. Not as effective
too bad it's not in color.

I want people to be shocked. I want them to see what citizens of this Country might face for engaging in the right to petition their Government.

12. I think it's more of an issue of training.
and making sure there's accountability in the Chain of Command.

If it wasn't Guns, it would be Batons or some other means of inflicting injuries.

5. They're supposed to be aimed at the ground
at a shallow angle, to richochet up with some of the force spent so they hurt but don't cause injury.

I don't know of any police or military force worldwide who has ever used them this way. They always shoot directly at people and cause injury.

8. That's what the manufacturer says in order to limit their liability.
We know the shooter is going to aim for maximum effect.

13. if it is shot at the ground at an angle...
it will ricochet at an angle. If it misses the target, it will continue that angle. It could then reach the elevation to hit a person in the eye.

15. At Occupy Denver, I saw a protester who was hit right between the eyes with a pepperball.
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 10:30 PM by backscatter712
The Denver PD use pepperball guns, which are kind of like paintball guns, except they're chrono'd much higher than rec paintball guns, and the paintballs are filled with capsaicin dust.

The pepperball left a very nasty welt. This kid's very lucky to still have his eyes. I googled about these weapons, and found that in 2004, during the RNC convention, the police killed a protester when a pepperball hit her in the eye. Not just took out her eye. KILLED HER.

16. Can Rubber Bullets Kill You? - Discovery News
Source: Discovery News

Three days into the London riots, British Prime Minister David Cameron authorized Metropolitan Police forces to use rubber bullets as an emergency crowd control measure, a move which has raised controversy due to the weaponry’s dicey reputation.

Classified as “nonlethal” or “less lethal” weapons, along the same lines as chemical irritants and stun guns, rubber bullets -- which typically consist of a 40-millimeter metal shell coated in rubber -- are meant to incapacitate targets without causing serious injury or death.

But since their early use in the 1970s, medical professionals, human rights groups and government officials have criticized rubber bullets, also known as baton rounds, because they say the so-called nonlethal weapons can kill.

The British government was one of the first to deploy rubber bullets on a large scale -- and see resulting casualties -- during clashes with the Irish Republican Army.
