Anyone hear O'Franken this afternoon ? |
|
AF was discussing Suskind's book & how * doesn't read newspapers and relies on staff to inform him. Then he speculated that Sleeza actually reads to * and that's why he likes her. Was he joking or is there some truth to this ? Just wondering since it looks like anything goes with this crowd.

1. I wouldn't be surprised |
|
Bush doesn't have time (or know how) to read very well.

2. They have a rather odd |
|
relationship. According to this past Sunday's NYT, Condoleeza spends an inordinate amount of time with GWB, including every weekend plus vacations. GWB is extremely reliant on her. The NYT reported that she is able to take complex issues and condense them for Bush, a trait he values highly. Bush can't take in information or consider differing points of views. Condoleeza is his version of a "sleeping dictionary"...the way a white man used to learn the native tongue through his concubine. Condoleeza is Bush's foreign policy Cliff Notes. Unfortunately, he's learning from someone who only had a hazy notion of Al Queda before 9-11. Rice could be a huge reason GWB focused on Iraq....it's what she knew.

3. I don't think the relationship is that odd. |
|
It's fairly straight-forward, in fact:
* needs a minority female as part of his staff, and Condoleeza sucks up more than enough to fit the bill.

and his aides gave him a few National Geographics to read in Air Force 1 on the way over.
