20. I believe that the publicity will detract from the Kerry campaign. |
|
Don't get me wrong, I love the 'big dog' but I want Bush defeated more. It will also revive those Clinton haters to get out and work harder for Bush when I think many of them were going to restort to apathy.

2. Clinton's book is gonna be a 900-page can of Whoop-Ass |

Imagine a kid from a broken and dysfunctional home reading The Happy Hollisters.
Now multiply it by 230,000,000.

3. what does it matter? It'll be "news" for a coupla days... |
|
he'll make the chatshow rounds, it'll linger on the bestseller lists, and it'll cause RWers to fumble and drop the Kerry ball to attack Clinton out of sheer instinct...

Clinton, Gore, all candidates from the primaries - bring them all on! Stop buying the f*ing RW talking points! They hate Clinton - so let then choke on it! At this point they all boost Kerry and kick W's ass.

It will remind people of the good ol' days of peace and prosperity.
It will remind people of what it was like to have an intelligent president.
I'm sure he's going to cover a lot of the awful things Republicans did (Gingrich, Starr, etc.) in detail and that will push people towards the Dems in general.
Not only will this book help Kerry, it will help all Dems running for office at every level, IMO.

8. After Seeing Gore Last Night...Roll The Big Dog Out!!!! |
|
This is time to remind the sheeple of what life was like waaaaaaay back before 12/10/2000...when there was a country that was run by one of the best administrations ever. Let's remind people how we came close to finding peace between Israel and the Palestinians and how our military was an agent of positive rebuilding, not destroying. It's time to roll out the Big Dog!
I watched Gore's speech twice last night and felt good the first time I heard it, and not so good the second. Al nailed a lot of the great points that I sure hope the Kerry campaign was taking notes on. It was the best analysis on the current political sceanrio we've heard in years. It was also great to see a real leader...a man who you know spoke with more conviction and principals than self-interest and arrogance. Hearing someone speak eloquently and precisely, rather than talking points and poll-drive reactions...and someone who could actually pronounce Abu Gahbril!!!
My sadness came in as how Gore messed up in 2000 by not highlighting how good things had been and letting the GOOP paint him and the past years as bad. He has never gotten out of that box and it's hurt the Democrats on the whole. He's now in a great place...on the sidelines where he can step in now and then, shake up the house (like he did last night) and remind us how just our beliefs are and the promise possible is we remove this regime. But there's no one who symbolizes that feeling better than Bill Clinton! It's time to roll out the Big Dog!
I don't know if you heard him speak at the "unity" dinner a couple months back. Damn, that felt good. In fact, it felt better hearing Clinton then than it did throughout most of his Presidency. The reason? He now is free to speak as he truly believes and is beyond the bites of the GOOP attack dogs that tempered him. Now he's got some payback coming and the time couldn't be better.
Clinton's book gives him a platform that will shine aside Kerry and if it's released prior to the Convention then one could easily dovetail into the other. Yes, Clinton can overpower, but I sense his political instincts know this is Kerry's time and his hatred of the Bushes and the Wingnuts run far deeper than any party divide. He's our "Reagan"...remember, this is the last ELECTED President and still remains very popular with Independents and women.
Have I started to convince you to say "Let's roll out the Big Dog!"??

11. if he hasn't spoken up re: Bush much yet, I don't think he will later |

He'll stick to his book, his Presidency, and his "legacy."
He's probably surrounded by people that tell him he can't comment on Bush because it wouldn't be statesmanlike or something.

13. Did You See Poppy Bush The Other Day??? |
|
He's chomping to get into this mess...was ready to call Kerry a "flip-flopper" and so on. If Poppy goes, so goes the Big Dog.
I think Clinton will stick mostly to "his legacy" and what's in the book, but he'll also be on every talk show in creation and you know the topic will not stay on just the book. He'll be on Russert, King...I'll bet he even does a phoner with Imus. It'll be more interesting who show he doesn't do (Faux, Tweety). On these shows you know he won't resist a question that allows him to compare how things were then as they are now. He doesn't have to say Bunnypants or mention anything in specific, but just point out how his administration handled something compared to this regime.
Oh...also, Clinton has a lot of right to speak out since he's been quiet about the post-Clarke book trashings about how his administration handled the "war on terror" (remember the "brick wall" shit), missing the chance to get bin Laden and the laundry list of things this regime has attempted to pin on him in their efforts to lie their way out of messes. He's got every right to speak out and here's his chance.
And I sure hope Poppy gets out and reminds us of the first Bush failure...BCCI, Silverado, Read My Lips...c'mon, Poppy!

15. Poppy has been defending his bratling from the start |
|
he and Babs have it honed to a vaudeville routine - the "burns me up, oooo I get so mad" stuff...
Remember, "traditions" concerning ex-Presidents not talking about current Presidents only apply to Democrats, after all.
"He's got every right to speak out and here's his chance."
Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent.

I think you are, too...and Babs The Hag.
Let's open up this family wider than a than wide...show ALL the warts of these goons. Let's bring out Neil and Jebby and do to them what has been done to the Kennedys, Clintons and any other Democrat family that has been demonized by these butchers.
Yeah, we'll get that "leave our boy alone" bullshit. Don't wanna fussy up Bab's beautiful mind, do we? Let's roll Poppy's words a decade ago about coalition building and if he says something to defend his evil spawn that runs counter to what he did...or didn't do...nail the bastard.
Then let's watch closely...get ready to figure whose gonna get those January 19th pardons.

25. Hmmm...The Opening Or The Keynote??? |
|
I'll give you several names and none are Clinton:
Max Cleland Ann Richards Al Franken
Then I'd invite each candidate to speak on the next night The third night would be Keynote...night...bring on Al Gore, Jimmy Carter and then during the one hour on the networks, bring on the Big Dog.
OK...now your turn. Whose on your list?

26. I hate to say this... |
|
but I'd have Clinton do the opening address because doing the keynote would place him too close to Kerry's own "performance" in the accpetance speech, and I'm afraid he might not stand up to the comparison. It's like a "pretty good" actor having to share the same screen with a young Brando, you know?
I don't know what the exact schedule is, but I'm going to assume that the networks will only cover the convention for one hour per night for four nights. Two speakers each evening, with the fourth night being the acceptance speeches by Kerry and the Veep-to-be-named-later.
Opening Night: The Big Dog opens the convention with a bang. I'd follow him up on the same evening with Franken (good entertainment value and keeps people watching).
Night Two: Warm-up speaker: House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Keynote Address by Howard Dean. Why? Because he deserves it.
Night Three: Warm-up speaker: Rep Jesse Jackson, Jr. (he's not quite got dad's oratorical skills, but he's the new Democratic Party). Nomination Speech: Al Gore -- reminds Democrats that we can't let it happen again.
Night Four: Introduction of the Nominee: Clark or Edwards (assuming one or the other is the Veep Nominee) Acceptance Speech: Kerry
That's my line-up.

Bring the BIG DAWG on! Bring all 900 pages on!
Our being reactionary about anyone or anything in our Dem political strategies would defacto declare Rove as MASTER puppeteer; and I, for one, refuse to march to the RW scum drum.
We gotta all get in there and jump on OUR terms -- and never, NEVER, never ask the repubs "how high?" and "when?"
OUR AGENDA. OUR TIMETABLE. OUR FUTURE.
Ok, I will switch to de-caf now.

When book is released, for a while it'll be "all Clinton all the time." He'll suck up a lot of the media oxygen that Kerry could put to better use.
When Clinton's doing his media tour all the talking heads are going to want to rehash the past. Very little time will be spent talking about Kerry and our future.

17. I can see why it might be prudent to hold off... |
|
Its release will start a feeding frenzy among Rush/Coulter/SavageWeiner/O'Reilly/etc. and there's no winning with these morans.
If he includes information about the Lewinsky scandal, they'll say he's cashing in, and/or distorting the events. If he leaves it out, he's covering up or stonewalling.
If he takes credit for the economic boom, they'll blame him saying the current recession started at the end of his term. If he DOESN'T take credit, then they'll say that excuses * from any responsibility for the current state of shit we're in.
Stuff like NAFTA, media consolidation, and the deregulated business climate that resulted in Enron had their origins in his terms, even if it was the Republican Congress that shoved most of it down our throats. Again, it's a lose/lose.
And, because the thing is 900 pages, anything the mainstream media, or even the RW media, asserts about the content of the book will stick, because while I bet a lot of people will buy it, almost nobody is going to read the whole thing--at least not by election day. "Bill Clinton says he hates kittens and Jesus" asserts Rush -- now, plow through all 900 pages in the book to prove it is NOT in there, then find a way to refute it.
Perhaps most importantly, it will draw attention away from Kerry during the closing weeks of the race. Some might argue that this is a good thing, but the last thing that needs to happen is to revive any form of discussion of "Monicagate" and Whitewater while we have all these swing voters and newly converted Republicans trying to get up the nerve to vote Kerry.

23. I agree, speaking out is generally a good thing |
|
But if Clinton publishes a book a does a media tour, it will be all about him. He'll do morning shows and Oprah and Larry King, and the media will swoon.
In the meantime, there won't be any focus on Kerry, or his ideas, or his plan for our future. That's what I want to hear about right now -- I have the luxury of waiting a few months to read the Clinton book.
