We should make Schiavo's life count for something..... |

I suggest we get a bi-partisan, non-judgemental movement started. We should get volunteers among attorneys and notaries and have publicized times, all over the country, where we could line up and sign legal documents regarding our own wishes.
We can chose to sign a document making our wishes known, which too many of us talk about but never do. We can chose to be kept alive for as long as possible, using every means available, regardless of prognosis and cost to our families. I think the government should be held party to this document, that they will pick up all costs not covered by whatever our family can generate. It seems they have entered into that promise this weekend.
Or, we can let our family know, we don't chose to endure what Terry Schiavo has been enduring for fifteen years. This would be giving our families a signed document of our wishes, whatever those wishes are.
I mean, when push comes to shove, no matter what we have been saying, one side or the other, when we imagine ourselves in that bed, what would we honestly chose? It could happen to any of us and maybe this can serve as a wake up call to us to sign that document, knowing it could be us. Maybe this can be her legacy.
Maybe some churches would care to start this movement this coming Good Friday and Easter weekend. There must be many there, who find it would be the best answer.
