Bush can destroy the world and still play Prez. Hillary comes near Superman Clark and she's his Krypton. Rush talk is an affliction.

9. It may be difficult to repair Bush's mistakes in 4 years |
|
The first 4 years is going to be tough for any of the democratic candidates if we win.
I think we would need a full 8 years at least to turn things around. The repubs probably have a mitigation plan unless they do lose in 2004.. and I don't even want to consider what that plan entails. Whatever it is they will be attacking the democrats harder than we have EVER seen moving into 2008 and they will most likely try to booby-trap everything from the war, terrorism, the economy, etc. etc. etc. to make it look like it was the Democrats' fault.

11. If it's true, then Hillary will screw her 2008 chances and it would be a |
|
bad move on Clark's part. Karl Rove would love Hillary to be Clark's co-campaign chair. What a hate-fest Rove would feed the Repukes! Hillary is a lightening rod for them.
Of course, if Hillary has ambitions for 2008, why would Clark trust her advice?

Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 02:45 PM by rmpalmer
I think that would be a dumb move on Clark's part. Feeds right in to Rove's and the wingnut pundits spin.
At this point in the campaign I think the Clintons should be standing with the Democratic Party, not one candidate.
Use them for fundraising for the party. Then when a Dem candidate emerges use them to stump and raise funds but don't make either of them an intricate part of the campaign.
But I'll wait for confirmation.

"Of course, if Hillary has ambitions for 2008"
Can you source that to her or someone that is in a position to speak for her? Please do not offer up the monotonous, never ending, and totally unsubstantiated GOP tripe as proof of Hillary Clinton's intentions. I can assure you they will be the last to know. When will DU'ers stop advancing Rove's nonsense in here?
"Karl Rove would love Hillary to be Clark's co-campaign chair"
Can you source that as well? I don’t think Rove would want to battle Hillary again as he lost horribly the last time. HC remains popular with Democrats that do not allow Rove to pollute their minds. Clinton’s name is synonymous with winning. In fact Rove will have little time for HC as Clark himself will be a very tough guy for a geek like Rove and his AWOL buddy to take on.
When will this tired RNC crap cease to be acceptable?

34. I'm not RNC. I'm on my local Dem Town Committee |
|
and no sources, just my opinion.
First, Hillary voted FOR the Iraq War, and Clark opposed it, so we already have a controversial situation, or Clark is not going to court the anti-war vote and leave the "red meat" for Dean to keep lapping up.
Second, assuming Hillary has ambitions for the White House in 2008, her chairing Clark's campaign, even as a figurehead, hurts her chances if Clark loses.
Third, I'd never have Hillary chairing any part of my campaign. It would be like having Lady Macbeth cook your dinner. She is ambitious and there is nothing wrong with that per se, but one must be aware of that ambition if one courts Hillary to chair one's Prez campaign.

possible VP rumor lists, except for Clark's
And with 8 yrs experience as Clark's VP, her chance of becoming President (in 2012) is greater IMHO than in 2008.

Faux News, the biggest media whore known to the world, is doing all it can to destroy at the start any credibility Clark may have by planting this story. Once again, playing on the emotions of the people who still believe that any Clinton is an evil Clinton. Another Faux BS attempt to create divisiveness, discord, and dirty laundry.
Wonder what Al Franken would have to say :-)

I'll believe it when an actual news source publishes it. Fox is infotainment, and I suspect this is just something they're throwing out to rile up the winger troops. Kinda thing they'd say whether it's true or not.

But if it is true, it seals Clark's biggest weakness -- he has a demographics problem with women voters, who absolutely love Hillary, on the other hand. I simply think it's one of those too good to be true things, though.

Remember the more the Red Ink Republicans holler the more people like me look at what they are hollering about and go with the oppositte of them. According to 2000 election there are more Liberals than Conservatives and gaining more daily. Pretty soon their little Clinton fetish will backfire "Big Time" on them. People are getting fed up with all the hatred.

27. IF Hillary were co-chair |
|
1. It is mostly a cerimonial position so it won't take away from her ability to be senator from NY.
2. More importantly, this signals she supports Clark in the primaries. Why take a position now?
3. This strikes me as the Clinton's last chance to take down Howard Dean. He is the candidate that most threatens the dem establishment and the DLC. The Clinton's are the establishment and charter members of the DLC.
4. The Clintons are taking on Howard Dean in this race and using Clark as a surrogate.
5. For those of you who think Hillary is angling for a VP position to improve her chances in 2012 - get off the crank. Hillary will not play second fiddle to ANYONE including her husband.

but Dean is a supporter and friend of Clinton. Maybe you missed it but Dean was standing next to Clinton when he gave his incredible speech at Tom Harkin's steak fry. And just to be clear: Wesley Clark is no one's "surrogate."

Sen. Clinton's office was denying this as of 6:00 EDT today. Somebody's playing rumor games with the press. No way the Clintons endorse any candidate this early, and that of course would amount to an endorsement.
My theory is that some Clark staffer was irked about the Dean leak (also from a low-level staffer) about the VP offer, and decided to get a little extra press coverage for his guy.
I don't think less of either campaign for it - it's not like they were leaking smears or anything like that, and this sort of rumor and speculation is what makes campaigns fun. Politics is serious business, and you have to be able to laugh at the funny stuff or you'll only stress out.
