It would be hard to top the amazing success of 9-11 |
|
It was all just so monumentally fortunate and profitable for bush and the planners of the deed, whoever they were.
And I can't imagine how they could possibly top the astoundingly successful tragedy.
One day of horror, broadcast on live t.v., and bada boom, we're all fucked.
It's just flat out amazing, there's really no need to go through another one, that one did the trick in spades.

Hope your right. Still, we're stuck with a war that many have stated will "last the rest of our liftimes". However long or short that might be.
I just hope we make it past June.

Just wait until he tries to reinstate the draft. All those gunho freeper college kids are going to have a shit fits, not to mention their parents.
That's why I harass them every chance I get. I want to know why they are still here and not in Iraq fighting for their president's war? Then I watch them get all uppity. It's so much fun.

15. But, if there is a MAJOR event |
|
say, 500,000 dead (which is what I anticipate the next event will entail) AND there is 24/7/365 coverage of the horror and heroism and it is presented as an act of terrorist war--another "attack on Amu'ka"--NO ONE will be allowed to oppose a draft. It will be presented as absolutely necessary, vital to the national security, UNPATRIOTIC to oppose, etc.
Things won't be the way they are now--which is bade enough--they will be much much worse. They will, if need be, institute martial law. They've already made this quite clear.
These fascist fucks are not going to stop until they have everything they want--and that is to put an end to this Republic. They're already well on their way to succeeding.

9. Syria's already folded. Iran will be a far tougher nut to crack. |
|
Assad Jr. isn't made of the same stern stuff as his late father. He's 26, and really should hand power over to more experienced hands.
I wish that the bright guys in Rummy's brain trust understood that getting rid of the Baathists isn't necessarily such a good idea -- you're left with rule by religious parties.
All of the remaining contenders for power in the region are now theocratically dominated regimes. They are contenders for God's grace who view the world through a Koran vs. Torah vs. Bible lense. Exactly the same for the Likud military-theological strategists. Include the American Neocons and fundamentalists with that bunch. Having removed the buffer of a secular force in the Middle East (particularly a viable Labour Party in Israel), we're likely to end up in the middle of a religious war fought with nuclear and chemical/biological weapons.
Anyone who thinks that Iran is going to be bluffed or bullied into giving up is out of their mind. Anyone who really believes that such a war can be "won" is, by definition, unfit for a responsible position of command.

16. Correction - Bashar Assad was 34 when his father died in June 2000 |
|
Bashar doesn't seem old enough to be President, as technically he still isn't. After he inherited power, the Syrian constitution was amended. It had set the minimum age for President at 40.
After limited, short-lived steps at reform, Syria retreated into the state of emergency rule that has been ongoing since 1963.

4. I like the creative thinking involved in explaining how it all happened. |
|
It is now a given that 19 Arab terrorists armed with nothing but boxcutters hijacked four different planes, with no one intercepting them and flying through one of the most heavily defended aircorridors in the world with no training in flying and slamming those planes precisely where they wanted.
That all the "facts" of these 19 men were created by Ashcroft, one of the original sinners of the PNAC, seems to have escaped notice. There is no other evidence for this than Ashcroft's word. Of course, Barbara Olsen, another rabid Republican Right Wing Doll happened to be flying on one of these planes and happened to make a clear cell phone call to her husband, Teddy, who coincidentally was also one of the PNAC men.I don't care what any one says.Try making a clear understandable cell phone call from a flying aircraft.
Can any of us come up with a better piece of fiction than this?

10. Don't base your argument on the cell phone angle. |
|
My wife called me during final approach to Reagan National a couple months ago. Her call came through while we were still in the air. It's a matter of altitude, and with the plane's transponder turned off, I can see how Olson's cell phone conversation and other calls reported were entirely possible.:bounce:

11. At the time 9/11 happened I understand that such calls from high altitudes |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 09:22 AM by KlatooBNikto
especially the one Barbara Olsen was flying in at 30K feet were not possible. It was only sometime during the past year that the FAA and the FCC authorized the protocols for such calls.
On Edit: Because this was disclosed, the administration was trying to backtrack on its claim about Barbara Olsen's cellphone call and claimed it must have been a call placed from her phone in the seatback.

13. My understanding is that Olson's call was late in the flight, which |
|
was at low altitude, <5000 feet over DC and then a rapid, spiralling descent in Flt. 77's diving approach to the southwest side of the Pentagon. Do you have a link for your information?
Further, I don't think anything has technically changed yet regarding cell phone protocols. There's sill resistance by some of the airlines, as they'd lose revenue from the present in-flight call service.
I've tried to avoid technical arguments such as this, because I am not an expert in these matters. Just wanted to let you know it is possible to get a cell phone call in flight.

14. Yes it is.But not from the situation that Olsen was in. That was the main |
|
reason that they backtracked on their claim. I will try and find that link.
