They Are Piling On Top of Dick Cheney, BIG TIME! |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-17-03 08:20 PM by David Zephyr
In Less than Seven Days:
1.) Cheney loses his request for an appeal regarding his having to surrender the names and notes from his dirty little energy policy meetings and is faced with either surrendering all documents or appealing to the Supreme Court. 2.) Dick Morris tell Sean Hannity this week that Bush II has "learned the lesson" from Bush I when his dad should have dumped Quayle in his bid for a second term. Morris recommends that Bush dump Cheney and chose Powell as his VP running mate to split the Democrats on 2004. 3.) Cheney goes on Russert and says "I did misspeak" (lied) about Saddam's nuclear program. Who told him to confess on national TV? 4.) Cheney announces he will go to the Supreme Court to keep his energy meeting contents and attendees secret in his last ditch stand. 5.) Cheney is fingered by the President of the United States, the Secretary of Defense and the head of the National Security Council all on the very same day as being the one to have misled Americans. 6.) Cheney is exposed as a liar after his denying having any relationship with Halliburton whatsoever on national television Sunday.
All in less than 7 days with the momentum growing furious.

1. yeah, it's pretty disgusting. |
|
I hate Cheney, don't get me wrong. But now the administration is just setting up a scapegoat so that they can be cleared of everything for the next election. I'm sure part of it also stems from the fact that Cheney is not exactly a good pick for 2008, and the Republican party would like to have a potential Pres for their next VP.
Makes me sick. Good riddance, Cheney. But I hope the American public doesn't fall for this political stunt.

whether Condi's on the ticket or not. Besides, I think Cheney's becoming so tainted it's a reflection on Bush and getting rid of him won't guarantee Bush anything. He's Spiro Agnew redux, and we know what became of Nixon.

Our Republic is heading toward the crapper, and ditching Cheney might satisfy some of the recently awakening sheep of a citizenry we have.
I don't want them satisfied. I want rid of all the corporate assholes ruling our country, and I want reasonable, moderate politicians put in place who will work toward a sustainable future for our country. I'm tired of globalization, and I'm tired of this artificial world that corporations are creating. I think the way we live now is bad for the soul, and I want it changed.

Plus, he seems moderate to the rest of the world. I think this has really been engineered. They needed to raise Frist's profile, so they get rid of Lott. Now, with Cheney in trouble, Frist comes in to the tune of "Here he comes to save the day"
I must say I'm proud of Lamar Alexander (R) and Phil Bredesen (D)...they continue to carry on the tradition of thinking, responsible Tennessee politicians, like Al Gore. Bredesen (our governor) even recently said that Bush was "no longer his president".
He was NEVER my president. Not for one day.

I told my business partner at lunch that Rehnquist, the long time family friend of the Bushes, probably has called Poppy down at his Tanglewood home in Houston and said, "Listen, George, I just got through speaking with David Kennedy and Sandra Day O'Connor and they are stubbornly refusing to let the SCOTUS hear Cheney's appeal and that they will side with Souter, Stevens, Breyer and Ginsburg. There's nothing I can do."

Now there is a chilling thought.
Like many others I would take great delight in seeing the skeleton of the bush* v Gore decision rattle it's ugly bones in their faces and under their noses again. What goes around comes around.
While I would like to see the issue in California settled with the Ninth Circuit and an election date in March, a big part of me would like to see this case shoved under their noses, just for the simple pleasure of having the abyss forced upon them so they either have to look into it or publicly and consciously refuse to look into it. Either way, they lose. It is just that the careers of the felonious five always be remembered for the bastardization they visited upon the Constitution and the concepts of separation of powers and having every vote counted.
Cheney – he is so powerful and connected and plain fucking evil it’s hard to imagine him going down. I can only imagine whatever comes out about him will be supplemented with a lot a smoke and mirrors as well as an ample supply of Vaseline to go with the total butt fuck we’ll get with it.

47. what was that you said about Lynne Cheney? |
|
aka Martha Mitchell?
do you still think she'll tell on them?
I can't see it, but the only thing I know about her is that when I had an NEA grant, she was trying to make sure everyone who needed one was equated with piss/christ.
I think the administration is at an interesting point...maybe the tipping point for them. If they protect Cheney vis a vis the energy policy task force, they will further damage themselves because people are hearing the dirt from them on Cheney.
If they don't protect him, they give an opening for some truth, with a bipartisan spin because of Klayman's group.
I think Bush overplayed his hand starting with the SOTU address, and crapped out with the tailhook propaganda. The invasion has gone so badly that he looks more and more like the ass that he is.
Yeah!
not to say that they are not full of dirty tricks. but I think they've underestimated everyone else in both America and the rest of the world and too many people want them to have to eat some, uh, dirt for the crap they've pulled.
please, please, please let this be the beginning of the end for them all!
Please let Rove be next with the Plame game.
Please let Bush's SOTU address be played over and over as he tries to deny his part in lying to the American people.
I'm not begging to you, btw. :)

You remembered. Thanks Raindog.
Yeah, just like Martha Mitchell would get drunk and get on the telephone and call half of Washington, D.C. at night spilling the beans on Nixon, Halderman and the rest for setting up John Mitchell, the AG, to take the fall for Watergate, I don't think that Lynne Cheney, our Domestic Patriotism Czar, will be very thrilled about her family name being linked with Spiro Agnew in history forever more.
I also don't believe that Dick Cheney will go quietly into the night. This guy KNOWS all the dope on George W. Bush's cocaine arrest, Dubya's Harkin insider trading, and worse, the Bush/bin Laden incestous relationships.
I can't see Dick going quietly or Lynne letting him do so either.
There's going to be some real hatred brewing between the Blair House and the White House.

Their plan has always been for him to "retire" as the scapegoat for as many of their crimes as they can pile on his back before he leaves. He won't face any consequences for any of it. Poppy pardoned more criminals than any president in history and Junior will surely break his record before oozing back into the slime he sprung from.

48. Save your tears. Cheney is complicit in this, |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-17-03 08:29 PM by colorado_ufo
along with *, Rice, Rummy, Wolfie, etc. Dean represented a growing threat of strength from the Democratic party, along with *'s falling poll numbers. Then, along comes Clark, to really make them shake in their jackboots. And, the emboldened media, now questioning the obvious, is the cherry on top.
So, the new plan - to hit the brakes and reverse the Saddam/9-11 rhetoric and lay the blame at Cheney's feet - accomplishes the following:
1 - "Clears the slate" from any media or opposition criticism of their not-too-subtle attempts to build association between Saddam and 9/11;
2 - Cheney becomes free to retire due to "health" concerns and collect the spoils that have been set aside for him from Halliburton et al.;
3 - Opens the field for a new VP running mate for *, to add interest/vitality/fresh lies to their 2004 campaign. And of the choices, they have the option of Frist - their OWN doctor - to counter Dean's threat and credibility.
4 - Best of all, it is yet another distraction, away from the crumbling economy and the fiasco in Iraq.
Wonder who thought this one up? Personally, judging from the style, I think it has Karen Hughes' fingerprints all over it.

60. I heard they aren't happy with Frist... |

because he went soft on them over the filibustering. Evidently, he said something like the Dems might see the light and do the right thing eventually. The WH was steaming over that. I've noticed that he isn't in the news much.
But then again, you may be right. They may have painted themselves into a corner and will need him for some sense of credibility. Not that Frist would fool anyone. He's got the skeletons, too, hasn't he?

61. I'd have to vote with that. What's going on is orchestrated |

quite well.
Cheney won't go unless it's partly his own idea.
He wants to get back to Halliburton. As the head fox, he's done his job in the henhouse and wants to go, well, eat up all the barbequed hens.
The Repubs are realizing they're in Big Trouble in 2004 and they need to shake things up. Which for them means a new VP, since they're not smart enough to jettison Bush himself.
Whether it's Frist or not, who knows. I think they may try something a little more surprising than that.

It is just too much trouble to dig up his corpse and re-animate him every time the Monkey's poll numbers drop.

62. Is it possible they know the Supreme Court will rule against Cheney |
|
and all those papers from the energy policy meetings will be released, letting many extremely damaging cats out of the proverbial bag?
