|

Too, I think normal South Carolinians would have something to say about another secession.

I support the idea, I love Charlston, Gay Haven, it will be missed...
I want to give them a square state in the middle, or better yet, we could send them all to Iraq, they can fight for some soil...

21. I don't think they should cecede. I think they can be expelled, though |
|
Can't we give them Alaska?
Or maybe the area of Nevada centered around Yucca Mountain or Trinity National Park.
If I remember correctly, the White Supremecists wanted Oregon or Washington State.
We could give Mt. St. Helens to them, too.

"South Carolina is too small to be a nation and too large to be a mental asylum."
Though not the majority, there are some damned liberal folks in South Carolina, and I hope they prevail against any fundie invasion.

39. Hi, Ian. I was trying to show some support for the non-Bushies -- |
|
-- in SC and other places where they're outnumbered. When I spend time in Berkeley and San Francisco, it's easier being a progressive. It would probably be all uphill in other places.
Seeing your Barbara Boxer avatar reminds me of what a terrific public servant she has been here lately. She's been a favorite of mine for a long, long time.
Long live Senator Boxer.

6. I think it's a great idea. |

All the fundie wack jobs can move to SC (and I suppose all the normal people will want to go somewhere else). They can secede and have their own country where church attendance is mandatory; abortions, atheism, non-Christian religions and homosexuality are illegal; women don't have jobs outside the home and are legally obligated to obey their husbands; the Ten Commandments and a statue of Jesus are installed in every courthouse; no TV other than Faux News is allowed; all sex is illegal unless with a spouse, missionary position only, and all parties but the Republican Party are outlawed. They can even call it "America," since technically there is no such country. Buh-bye. Don't let the door slap you in the ass...

It would make the drive to Florida a little longer...
I would have some questions?
Would you need a passport? Do they check your penis, and if you are unclean you are barred? Can we go to their nation, and knock on their door, and teach them about a life without Jesus?
Give them Kansas, they are almost there...

If they are really good God Fearing Chrs they will take it, because wealth is like kriptonite to getting into heaven.

18. I just picked up an old paperback copy of Tofler's "Future Shock" ... |
|
... at a garage sale the other day and was leafing through it. One of the things I noticed was that Tofler said we will one day have various areas/enclaves where like-minded people will live. It's strange, but the first two groups that came to mind as benefiting from having their own territories were gays and lesbians and the "fun-D'uh-Mental-ists."

FUCK OFF!
I happen to like the house where I live, short of a Power Ball hit it will probably be my last house. You would wish this upon me, nice...
In case you didn't notice 41% of the '04 vote in SC went to Kerry, hardly a winner but a lot of folks nonetheless. And you would shit on us all. You are selfish twits who wish to dump your garbage in your neighbors yard because there's already a pile there. How about taking care of your own garbage?
Why does this damn thing pop up every few months?

|
Bet their teen pregnancy rate, drug use, drop out rate, suicide rate, divorce rate, would show that they arent any better at running things than a secular government. Then they would be without enough money to solve their problems because they wouldnt have the federal goverment to run to for help in bailing their sanctimonious asses out.

that is currently uninhabited. I don't think anybody intended to slam SC in particular, but merely to consider the possibility of letting these nutjobs have their own territory, preferably far away, where they could go and have their own nasty little theocracy, and not bother the rest of us.

Both are good, active liberals and their friends are too. I sent her this article last year and they just laughed. According to her there are people moving into her area of SC by the droves and they're mostly from up north and they're mostly Dems!! She's guessing they are probably counter-acting any that move there for the theocracy motive.

They think they can will the kind of migration that, in the 60s and 70s turned California progressive. The problem is they need us to pass actual laws against Christian customs if they want to get Christians the way we got hippies and gays--in flight from oppression.
Otherwise they have to offer these people something, I mean cash or in kind payment to participate in this project, and I doubt many of these secessionists Christians are willing to put their money where their mouths are... unless that happens to be a hooker's crotch.
