What happens if San Andreas or New Madrid go with these idiots in charge? |
|
New Madrid would probably be worse because of multiple cities being flattened, but I think LA getting devastated would still be quite a large issue, to say the least.
This was a hurricane. You had warning. You don't have any sort of warning on earthquakes, much less any time to evacuate people.
Food for thought if you live in San Francisco, SoCal, or around the New Madrid Seismic Zone.

2. Take the fires in NO, multiply by 1000. That's earthquake aftermath |
|
Freepers probably think the affected state can fight that with a half-dozen police choppers throwing water balloons.

3. Everyone is thinking the same thoughts |

I live in a state where we could have a tsunami (we had a tsunami warning just a few months ago), an earthquake (we had a big one just 4 years ago), or a volcano. All of us in Washington state are thinking that we would be left on our own if any of those disasters happened. I think governors are probably going to band together to see if they could help each others in times of crises and forget about the federal government.

10. Hey, sanity.....worse case scenario east of the Cascades could... |
|
...be a massive geological or extraterrestrial event. This could expose or cause any degree of leakage of the underground nuclear radiation stored ever so precariously and conveniently adjacent to the Columbia River and other channeled water sources.
I would often have nightmares right before this So Cal family would visit family in the Tri-Cities. I would dream there would be an incident and my family would never be allowed to leave.

but when I first read your post, the word "extraterrestrial" jumped out at me. I thought you were going to tell me about a flying saucer invasion. I reread it and see what you're getting at. That scenario would be a danger to the entire world.

Hopeless disaster, lack of preparedness, absense of foresight, massive death, lives shattered irrevocably and vast Haliburton profits.
Did I miss anything?

Unfortunately that is the purpose of government but the slacker in the WH doesn't understand that.

11. We know after this that we are pretty much on our own. |
|
A large magnitude earthquake in San Francisco is one of the disasters predicted by one of the federal emergency agencies (can't remember the name)and given to Homeland Security. The other two were a terrorist attack and a big category hurricane to hit New Orleans. So now that these have happened, we are waiting on the earthquake here in California.
At least this time, I will be able to help. I only live 200 miles from the San Fransisco Bay Area.

15. I'd Be WAY More Worried About San Andreas |
|
I've seen the probability values on New Madrid. The probability is almost zero of it going in the lifetime of anyone alive today, or their great, great, great, great grandchildren. It gets up to a 0.1% probability in 264 years!
San Andreas is over 0.8% EVERY SINGLE year. And that means there is a 99.2% chance of getting through the year. So, every single year that goes by, the probability gets worse and worse. There is a 50:50 chance in only 48 years. THAT(!) is pretty scary. The Professor

17. It's not the San Andreas that is worried about.... |
|
it is the Hayward fault line running smack dab through the east bay. It would be far more devestating than the '06 quake.
And my heart stops thinking about what would happen with these morans in charge.
Luckily, on a local level, we have some pretty serious disaster preparedness planning and drilling, so I like to think we'd manage until the rest of the country came to our aid.
