What's the worst scenario you envision if Bush wins in 2004 ? |
|
We know that the way they spend money, we will not have a balanced budget. We will have huge deficits and our debt will increase dramatically. We will probably be more isolationist since nobody in the world respects us anymore -- although a few countries do like our money. We will be mired up to our eyeballs in some military engagement somewhere or another. The taxcuts will not create a lot of jobs as they said. Our economy will remain stagnant and few jobs will be created. Our country will be more divided than ever. That is the way I would see us going...

Bush* didn't win in a landslide in '00. In fact he didn't win period! He lied cheated and stole, and was appointed to the position he currently holds. Since EVERYTHING has pretty much gotten worse for everyone, save the richest of the rich, I don't see him winning by a landslide in '04. He might however, again LIE CHEAT STEAL and be re-appointed !

11. Lets see where to start |
|
Every third Wednesday remote guided planes will fly into preselected buildings, and govt officials will claim arabs did it until Bush has has killed enough Arabs to complete some specific spell required by the illuminate/Skull and Bones/PNAC 3d editions Wizard manual. After that, Bush will immediately require all non-whites to report for "Re-Neducation" which basically means once they are pushed through a door and the door is locked they will be crushed into a goo, lightly salted, and then packaged and served for rich white republicans to smear on melba toast at parties.
then the real fun begins. nazi flags everywhere, the poor will be forced to fight in gladiator style arenas where the kirk/spock fight music from star trek is played over and over again
SUV's will be allowed to drive anywhere they want, regardless of who or what is in the way.
States will be renamed after Bush contributors
In an orgy reminiscent of the Tom Hanks Dan Akroyd movie "Dragnet", pill popping white men wearing Rush Limbaugh masks and goat leggings will dance akwardly and sacrifice all women who had an abortion, destroy the constitution, reinstitute slavery for the poor not used for amusement or sexual pleasure, and eat a lot of red meat.
John Ashcroft will actually meld with the internet and be called "The Master Control Program." Dick Cheney will have his name changed to "saark" for some wierd reason.
George Bush will proceed to nuke any country that is not the United States that still has non whites left in it and begins with a consonant. All states that begin with vowels will be "acquired", have deeds printed up, and shall replace all the properties a la a global "monopoly board."
The master control program, thanks to top secet illuminati powers, will be able to monitor thinking, and anybody who even thinks of the constitution or has a liberal thought will be "reneducated"
/i got nothin

W would bow out after 2... and hand the baton to Jeb - who'll run the show for 8 more years. If Bush wins this time, it's Bushes for 12 years.
By then - considering the new policy of preemptive war - we're back to the great game. Imperialism couched in christian dogma and us vs them outgrouping. Pak and India will go to town - because Bush wants them to. Lots of death and destruction around the globe - as Hicks put it, a lot of expats will be victims of american foreign policy.

20. two things we take for granted now, |
|
For one, the ability to visit many overseas destinations will be significantly curtailed. Either it will be too dangerous for an american to show his or her face because of war (read: China), or our government will place travel restrictions "for our own protection." This may extend to mobility within the US as well. Secondly, there will be a tendency for women to take on a more passive societal role, as the culture of war and dominance is empowered further. Many young women coming of age in the next decade will accept unequal or even demeaning treatment as part of the natural order of things.
Dogs and cats living together it ain't.

You give your political enemies far more credit than they can ever succeed at. I don't believe the Senate is going to let him have any appointments to various courts. The real problem will be if the the Repukes do the same thing to the next Democrat President by saying all of his nominees are too liberal. Will the nation then go for years with a tremendous shortage of judges? Will that be a good or a bad thing?

This is like trying to describe the most terrifying nightmare you haven't yet had. You remember some of your worst dreams, put them together and try to come up with something more horrific.
Certainly, we would be in for a lot more wars against arabs, bringing the self-willed racist "clash of civilizations" to a head.
This would mean that the fraudulent "war on terror" would cease to be the cheap cynical political tool it now is, and become something real, which, of course, would require a suspension of what is left of the Bill of Rights, the total militarization of American culture and society, re-institution of the draft, etc. Something like the military state that is called Israel.
In addition, Bush would have more time to achieve his central goal, which is bankrupting the federal government, in order to roll back basically all of the social programs created since FDR -- this is the real GOP goal since Reagan -- without debate, because there's no point in debating what is fiscally impossible.
This would entail a massive rise in poverty, crime, misery and the need for yet more foreign wars to take peoples' minds off the fact that America is becoming a third world country.
There's a lot more, but I need a drink now.

If Bush* gets elected in 2004 then he will have nothing to lose.
He will probably turn the United States into marshal law. Asskkkrack will get his concentration camps. The left won't have to worry about jobs, because it will be the left that will be viewed as traitors and locked away in those concentration camps.
Bush* will really push for the United States to be the ruler of the world. Australia will probably become another convict colony again.
There won't be anymore DU. And I probably will never see Sapphocrat again.

More robbing the poor to give to the rich, more private control over basics like energy and water, more 'deregulation', basically more of the same, not enough money for healthcare or public services, and when everything's nice and fucked in about ten years or so, that's when the people will start getting scared and looking for a 'strong' (read: fascist) leader. Your current overlords are just a bunch of typical recycled reaganites, but the way they're driving your economy into the ground, they're setting up the conditions for some really unpleasant shit a few years down the line.

60. First things first... |

This scenerio is certainly very frightening. But very real at the same time. Being the case that I haven't become a citizen yet I better do it quickly, because even permanent residents can be deported at whim (the supreme court ruled it was legal to deport a South Korean man for petty theft).
But that's just the begining. Usually how a nation treats its noncitizens is some indication of how they'll treat their own citizens (or atleast it's sometimes prophetic)....and with that being the case, the government would basically be able to "remove" people's citizenships. With their citizenship, along goes their rights (or what remains of them), and as Patriot Act II is passed, and all the provisions of the first P.A. are made PERMANENT, abuse of government power will become a "normal" part of life. Like it is in the case with many dictatorships.
So both houses of congress are retained by republicans. The democrats lose all power to fillibuster. More right wing fanatics are placed in the courts. The "swing vote" of Sandra Day O'Conner is replaced by an even more extreme justice like Scalia.
Everyone one of the bill of rights will be "reevaluated". The essence of the first and fourth ammendment will cease to be. More restrictions are therefore allowed on speech, and this web site would be forced to move out of the country.
The media becomes even more consolidated in the hands of GE and Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch is able to buy out as many local outlets as he wishes.
The beat of propaganda marches forward as the new war begins. What responsibilities that would have been those of the civilian government at earlier times would become those of DoD (much as the Iraq War showed). Eventually at one point, the civilian government (or what remains of it) ceases to have any role to play in military affairs. This in effect becomes a shadow government, abolishing the old CIA and NSA (which doesn't completely go along with the new government's plans)...
Meanwhile domestically Bush realizes that a somewhat strong economy is needed to keep the people compliant, and just enough to stop the people from revolting (like in China), so trillions more are poured into military programs like missile defense, and Star Wars. This builds an even more militarized society, where people are force fed more propaganda during work time. At the same time, the patriot act expands terror to drugs, to illegal music downloads (hey it all ties in).
This will be the New America. It will be somewhat reminicent of those distopia films (like blade runner or something) but possibly even darker.

Bush/Rudy win in 2004, winning about 400 EVs including NY's.
Coatails and Texas redistricting leads to spreads in the Senate of 55-44-1 in favor of the Rs, and 235-200 in the House in favor of the Rs.
This gives Bush a legacy in 2008, something he doesn't have now. This naturally leads to Rudy/Rice vs Hillary/??? in 2008, which I would expect would be a loss for dems.

Open season on the environment, a further move to a one-party system, incipient corporate facism goes into full bloom, and nobody cares as they all keep Faux News on day and night.
If you're a betting person here are a couple of good ones:
-Rudy Guiliani will be on the GOP ticket in 2004; -Arnold will run for president in 2008 (why Jeb, when you've got Jeb-on-steroids?)

if there may be a coalition of a lot of the larger countries, waiting for the results of the 2004 election to determine whether or not they band together and try to stomp the shit out of us, rather than give WhistleAss four more years to fuck up the entire planet.

70. Worst case, and realistic: Invasions of Venezuela, Iran, and |

maybe Syria. They finally push North Korea over the edge and discover that they did in fact have a few nukes. Until they were detonated.
Continued erosion of individual rights here at home, with even more extreme polarization of wealth. Union busters runs out of unions to bust. Jobless rates soar.
And you hear none of it on television or radio because NPR and PBS have been gutted. You can't find info on the internet because the best sources have been deemed "terrorist sites" or a "threat to national security".
Tinfoil hat stuff, maybe maybe. Maybe not.
