Josh Marshall thinks WH damage control may lack direction |

...Yesterday's Daily News story by Tom DeFrank, which provided the first clear evidence that President Bush has known who the culprits were from the beginning and possibly failed to disclose that to Patrick Fitzgerald in their interview last year.
Why would White House officials sell the president out like that? The question becomes more pointed when you note that DeFrank, as we discussed yesterday, has long been close to people in the Bush world. ry?
snip
Ordinarily, such an elementary mistake just wouldn't happen.
This part is just inference, not reporting. But I suspect that what we're seeing here is an example of various players in the White House trying to manage damage control without central direction, perhaps without the requisite experience in some cases and even more likely without all the key facts at hand.

1. AND no one person in control! |
|
Rove, who used to be that central comtrol, is concentrating hard to save his own a**. Since he never relinquished any comtrol to anyone else, they're all now operating independantly, doing what they think is right, but without any coordination!

3. From Josh: "The limbs keep moving even after the head is severed..." |
|
The limbs keep moving even after the head is severed, but not with the same coordination.
Without Rove it's all fallen apart! I love that quote from Josh.

4. Oh, No, There's Direction Alright, But it's BAD Direction! |
|
I think w/ Rove out of the picture, Chimpy has taken over his own reigns. I think he does fancy himself quite the political guru. "See, I'm smart, not stupid like everyone says! I can do this my own self!" "Yes sir! Brilliant idea sir!"
I'll bet it was Bush's own idea to put out the story that he was angry at Rove, and no one could tell him how stupid an idea that actually was.

8. remember when they said bush will surround himself with excellent people? |
|
His incompetence was no big deal, 'go ahead and vote for the man' because he'll have excellent people backing him up.
His downfall may come as a result of those choices - the very people he thought would cover his back.

9. If this is true, it's hysterical! With friends like that, Bush doesn't... |
|
need enemies.
It's hard for me to believe that anyone is actually that stupid on the Bush team. They've just implicated him in a crime.

Loyalty is high, but only to the extent that it has rewarded their selfishness.
And they've gotten away with EVERYTHING else so easily, they just got sloppy.

11. I agree with Josh - Andy Card is in charge and he is a tool and a fool. |
|
Obviously they have decided to use Tweety, Fineman and Andrea Greenspan as their front people on the Bush vs. Cheney spin. Way to obvious to be clever.
Meanwhile, Card told a reporter that Bush was mad at Rove for his poor management of the Wilson matter - never thinking beyond his nose that he was indicating that the Pres lied. We know that Card is an incompetent idiot from several sources.
I called my U.S. Senators (both Rethugs) on Tuesday to complain that the WH and the executive branch seemed to be full of incompetent idiots slopping at the public trough and wanted to know if they had the same kind of political hacks in their offices soaking up the publics money. Then I asked if I could review the resumes of the senate staffers on line - they got off the phone because I am sure that the people answering the phones were exactly that - Daddy gave a big donation so they could be hill staffers.
