Lol, great thread of conservatives ripping on Bush |
|
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?threadid=51297I find it to be highly amusing-- looks like conservatives don't care for neocons much.

1. I think if the Dem nominee... |
|
throws the conservatives a bone or two, like the flag amendment and a less gun-hostile policy, I think the Dem would win in a landslide.

In the last election, 36% of those who voted opposed stricter gun laws. Of those, 74% voted for Bush. Take the guns issue of the table and half of Bush's base is in play.

Is that bumper sticker in your sig available at all? I love it, and it would make a great XMas gift for some friends.
Thanks

4. Naw, just something I hacked up in Photoshop |
|
It's part of the US flag from the Fallout (PC video game) powered armor desktop background along with some lettering. Just a default font and the stars come from Wingdings. I'm not much of an artist. :dunce:

3. This is how they think: |
|
"I'm on Medicare and paying big bucks for prescriptions and would like to get some relief but it still wouldn't buy my vote. My gun rights are more important than my prescriptions."
Uh oh.

6. But they ripped him because it spent too much money. |
|
Not because of any other reason. The Republicans who oppose the bill want Medicare TOTALLY privatized, which would be disaster for seniors. They want it turned to private companies.

They were angry because he is pushing what they feel are "bloated" bills giving money to his cronies, instead of being a conservative and working for smaller government.
"this Mediscam" "He is simply throwing feed to the hogs" "Expansion of Medicare into drugs is a profoundly expensive attempt to buy votes." "When the new Medicare bill passes (and it will) you can expect that the price will jump some more as the Pharmaceutical Co's will be making money hand over fist since Uncle Sam will be footing the bill even more" "Like I told my congresscritter, if government wants to do something positive about prescription drugs first stop the legal drug cartels (the pharmaceutical industry) from price gouging desperate patients out of their retirement checks."

10. I think its indicative of the conservative mentality |
|
that things like gays, religion, guns, abortion and values are more important than quality of life issues.
Of course their stances on these issues are still wrong .

11. er, where do you get that? |
|
They never talked about gays, religion, abortion, etc at all. And of course they mention guns, it's a gun message board. If it was a boat message board, they'd mention boats.
They did however talk about exactly what you describe -- quality of life. The patriot act, the medicare bill, the "no child left behind" stuff.
The point I'm trying to make here is from this you can see there IS a split among republicans and many do share ideals you think belong exclusively to democrats.
Howard Dean was exactly right that we need to and can reach out to these people. Quality of life effects them as well and they ARE concerned about it, and explicitely say so in that thread.

13. Sure quality of life is important, |
|
but as I pointed out its not as important as the issues I mentioned, like guns. It seems even if it gets worse they would never vote for a "liberal." Just look at some of the comments about hillary.

That was the first time I've ever read a conservative thread. I must say their priorities seem different! Rat-publicans seem more interested in immediate, close-to-home issues like guns, prescriptions etc., things which affect them personally on a local level.
Dems on the other hand, seem to look at the bigger picture. In a more abstract way. We seem to be concerned with entire countries, parties & large groups of people and how issues affect them.
I'm going to call us the Aggre-crats. (for aggregate issues)
Thanks for the link!

"Despite all the rhetoric that the Republicrats are better than the Demopublicans, I simply fail to see any difference between the two. I used to say that the difference was that one was only slower at taking us down this slope... But Bush took us further in 2 years than Clinton did in 8.
Call it a protest vote. Call it a wasted vote. I don't care. I will vote my conscience."
Yes! Yes! VOTE your conscience! Vote NayIymean Roy Moore!
