republithugs at various political forums...

I've become rather disgusted at what I call "republithugs". I used to enjoy having a civil debate, even with republicans, but since Bush, the neocon republithugs encamp themselves at politcal forums and attempt to drown out or bully democrats into silence. I've left a couple of them at various times in disgust. NOT because they disagree with me...heck if they actually did that, I'd not mind.
But instead its just heckling and character assasination without addressing points...really the lowest sort of interchange.
Its almost like the neocon/republican guard have their own skinhead shock troops: the republithugs, who contribute NOTHING to a discussion except personal attacks and mindless drivel. They gang up on articulate democrats to weed out the opposition through intimidation and frustration.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Its why I came here....its not that I only want to hear OUR side of the issues, but its the only to rationally discuss the issues without weeding through the dross....that, and you guys are great!

ok,, here's the reason for my post: I was toying with the idea of picking one or two of these boards I don't frequent much anymore due to being drowned out, and sending a posse of you excellent arguers over there to even teh scales a bit.

but.....the more I think about it, the more pointless that all seems. What do you guys think?

1. pointless..

even when you slam one home, they never admit it and the only satisfaction you have is that you know others have seen you pound them with facts.

overall, i'd say it's a waste of time.

I've come to the same conclusion, just wondered what y'all thought.

its a shame, really. I LIKE to debate politics with the opposite side, but the thugs get in the way.

3. welcome to DU

It is sort of pointless. If they would listen and discuss issues it would be different. I used to do the same thing you are talking about. Finally, I gave up to keep my sanity. This way I know there actually are intelligent people all over the country, and who are also going to vote this fall. It has brightened my view of this country greatly.

and just about drove myself to a nervous breakdown.

This will not listen. They are brainwashed by their daily dose of Rush and rantings from fundie pulputs.

Stay here and enjoy the (relative) peace and quiet.
