EEK! Thre's a big wasp in my apartment, I'm asking you everything! |
|
I have no clue how it got in here.
I do not want it in here.
The way it keeps buzzing by the windows until it falls back down due to exhaustion for several minutes, it doesn't want to be here either.
I am not going to touch it.
It will definitely touch me if I try to help it out.
If I open the window, I run the risk of letting more wasps in. I do not want them in either.
I don't know how to talk to the blessed insect, nor it to me so let's rule out the concept of intelligent communication.

and a magazine or book. When it lands, put the glass over it and slide the magazine under the glass, trapping the wasp. Then take it outside and free it. Everyone's happy :)

It wants to sting you about as much as you want to get stung. I concur with MindfulNJ and hope that you will trap it and release it. After all, who needs a poor wasp's death on your conscience? :-)

use a paper cup and an envelope with some junk mail in it ...
then, instead of having to lift the glass, you can just open a window or a door and give the whole setup a heave ...
oh ... and one last tip ... make sure you never do this with an envelope that contains a valentine's card you gave your wife ... you might be better off taking your chances with the wasp ...

10. Probably not a stinging wasp |
|
If it's by itself, it's probably what we in texas call a mud dauber. Wasps usually sting to protect a hive. Mud daubers are solitary and will not sting except in cases of extreme duress (like if you try to hit it with your hand or sit on it). You should be fine doing as another poster suggested, put a box or jar over it and take it outside.

Loved the responses, especially the comedy-laced ones.
It isn't a wasp.
As closer range, it's a big ugly brown thing with large antennae that kept jumping up and down.
It was resting between the outer and inner windows when I closed the inner window door on it. Of course, now do I let it live or throw it out; knowing that it'll die in the cold or starve between windows... fate can be uglier than George W Bush at times...
Still don't know how it got in.
Dunno why it wants to come in, the apartment's a mess right now and I will tidy up for strangers.

spray it with hair spray(if you have any)...this stiffens the insect's wings, which makes it unable to fly. This causes it to drop to the floor where you can whack it safely. This really works, according to my mother.
