I went to a bank of the future today |
|
It was a new branch of my regular bank (a credit union), but I'd never been to a bank like this.
I walked into the lobby and there were no tellers.
There were the ropes, of course, to line the customers up in order of arrival, but when you got to the front of that line, you were next to approach one of several "panels" that contained the drive-thru type air-tubes, a small writing platform with a pen, and a small screen, on which, I was instructed, my teller would appear. In the meantime I was treated to some kind of news that was not tv news, and weather reports from around the country, that was not the weather channel.
Then the teller appeared, asking how I was, etc. She could hear and see me as well.
I deposited a check, got a little $ back - thru the "tube" - and was told to have a nice day, by the teller on the screen.
It was kinda wierd.
Anybody been to a bank like that?

6. We have one at a grocery store here. |
|
It turns out the teller in sitting a room no bigger than a closet when he/she transacts your business. It's got a "1984" kind of creepiness.

7. Sounds like a good way to foil bank robbers! Though, I |
|
supposed if they were determined to rob a bank, they'd find the 'in' door. And no, I've dealt with those tubes at my c.u., but only while in the car.

10. So, when does the outsourcing of tellers begin? |
|
"Good morning, sir". "And how many rupees dollars will you be withdrawing today?"
