I'm taking suggestions on how to get through the next 13 months |
|
So how do I get through this election cycle without going completely crazy?
Should I join a pottery class?
Should I open my own Ebay store?
Should I read the complete works of Leo Tolstoy?
I don't think I can watch the news any more. It's making me completely crazy. I know I'm not alone here. What do you guys do to alleviate election-related stress?

3. go to your doctor and get a big dose of Paxil |
|
and take it every day religiously until late November 2004
If Bush wins, keep taking it, but double the dosage.

But if you think Paxil will help speed up the time, I'll certainly give it a shot.

YOu know, if W's right hand was raised just a little higher, you know what it look like ... Why, how ironic.
Pass the time?
-Here, ranting with fellow left-minded folks
-Helping with grassroots campaning
-Yell at Gary BirdSong- (evangilical nut who loves to preach hate on College Campuses nationwide, post if ya ever heard/seen him). Search google for him.
-Conduct online Warfare (MOHAA, Counterstrike, etc..)
Some of my favorites.

9. join up with Bev and BBV, fight for local and national candidates |
|
and I like to offset it all with hours and hours of reading, writing, and ranting. i've met an excellent cartoonist and we are working on some political cartoons, which makes me feel good because we may wake some people up.
but don't watch the news. they aren't helpful. you can still read about what they cover here. if I had cable, I would lose my mind.
but it is hard to keep sane during insane times. I recommend emailing Bev, though!!!

That's what I am concentrating on now. I don't feel like contributing to the economy that much right now until we get a responsible government back.

11. I agree with all of these suggestions, |
|
but I'm going a step further in my planning. If the Bushistas manage to pull another coup next year, and are still in office in January of 2005, I am definitely taking the kid and moving to Canada, I don't give a good goddamn if I have a job or not. I don't live too far from the border, I have a college degree, and I just cannot face living in a country that would vote for the Bushistas. And I will not be able to stand watching my country being totally destroyed by that Nazi wannabe and his henchmen.

12. If he gets re-elected |
|
The wife and I have decided on Norway. I know everyone says they're going to do leave the country if Bush gets re-elected, but I honestly don't know how I can stand another four years of this shit. Hell, I can barely even stand ONE more year.

I'm moving to Canada now...the further disintegration of my country will be less painful watching from afar. Besides I recently married a Canadian, and if the US would let her in...we would live here. As it stands she is denied entry, so I am going to Canada!

he was one of "The Limeliters" which will be meaningless to you if you aren't an old phart like me ;-) "I raced home tearfully, leapt into bed, assumed the pre-natal position and turned the electric blanket up to 9." :D

22. turning the TV off is my suggestion |
|
get plenty of exercise, spend time w/ people who love you, and....
... volunteer for your candidate of choice.
You'll probably feel better about the process if you feel involved.

18. Get politically involved |
|
Go door to door, or sit in coffee houses and talk to people.
Register voters in under-represented districts.
Leave lists of URL's for places like DU, Bartcop and Truthout in books in bookstores.
This is not a time for armchair activism.
We still might not manage to acheive Bush's ouster, but at least, looking back on it all, you'll be able to look yourself in the mirror and know that you tried to impact Democracy in this country.
