Is it true that if you eat a lot of starchy foods... |
|
...the weight goes to your middle?
I just bought some clothes for the fall, and I went up a pant size =(
(that and I've stopped running my 4 miles a day- fuckin' too hot outside, man!)

1. I can tell you that when I *stopped* eating starchy foods, I lost weight |
|
around the middle. Without even trying (exercise), I lost 3-4" around my waist just from minimizing starches.

you are consuming more calories than you expend, and your body type is one where you gain weight around your midsection.

I'm pear shaped and have been eating cheap, high carb food (think mac n' cheese) lately. I can't wait for fall...I need to start running again.

Poor people tend to get most of their nutrients from starches. Rice, Bread, Pasta, Patatos, Patatos, etc.
When they gain weight from it.. the rich think it's because they need to push away from the table. Some times it's not how much you eat, it's what you eat. Poor people can't afford as much fruit and vegs that the rich people could.
Ever heard of "comfer food" Mashed patatos, gravy (flour), Fried chicken (breaded/flour).. Then there is Red Beens and rice.
Once you are "raised" to eat a certain way.. it's your comfort food. Even after being able to afford fruits and vegs... we crave our comfort food.. OUCH!

And when I wasn't poor, I was eating a high protein (protein from soy- I was eating only lean chicken and fish as meats) diet.
DAMN.

People who have to watch their sugar intake watch starches. Starches are converted to sugar in our system.
Starches are not all that bad. But if you cut back on your "body work load", your not going to need as much starches.
