Poll question: Rosie O'Donnell: Discuss |
|
What do you make of this person, Ms. Rosie O'Donnell? I know that I am supposed to like her because she is gay and a Democrat, but I am realizing more and more that....well....I don't.
What say you?

But I like big bossy women with big mouths. They don't scare me. They kind of turn me on. I love Roseanne Barr as well.
I have a hard time comprehending the level of dislike some people have for her. It makes me think they are assigning something from themselves into her because the reaction to her is just so over the top.

14. i sort of defended her with the whole Trump thing... |
|
but I think she really is mean-spirited and when I see her show, all she does is talk over the other three women, rarely letting them get a word in - it makes her look stupid and rude.
...and now she's judging ANS for taking drugs? As if her food addiction is somehow more noble?
aaaah...whatever.

I like her..but like opinionated loud mouth people as I wish I could be more like that!

Well, she's not irrelevant - people do listen to her. But she SHOULD be irrelevant. She's certainly irrelevant to me.

23. I think it is, and perhaps the only time I didn't include "fat bitch" in the description. |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 11:03 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I figured people were getting tired of me calling her "fat bitch", so I thought I'd come up with something else than a string of words that include "fat bitch", which admittedly is an accurate, though incomplete, description of what she is, but I've called her "fat bitch" enough over the last year or so that it was time for something other than "fat bitch". I decided "fractious" was an elegant word to use, along with bloviating and irrelevant, instead of my rather common, and thus boring, usage of calling the fat bitch a "fat bitch". Fat bitch probably won't appreciate it, though, on account of her fat bitchness.

she's a comedian with a big mouth - nothing more, nothing less. She says what she wants, and I admire that.
on edit: I don't love the poll options, because I don't think she's a "representative" for liberals.

i mean, she shouldn't be - but she is. just like susan sarandon and george clooney are. not elected officials, but certainly public figures who represent whatever political side they are on.

|
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 06:05 PM by idgiehkt
she can debate circles around them and still come off civilized when it's over most of the time. She's informed and can hold her own with the conservative debaters, unlike the celebrities you mentioned who many times get run right over by people like O'Reilly and Hannity. I saw Rosie whip Hannity and Hasselbeck both one time in a debate, and still keep the discourse civil. I love that she is a loud and powerful liberal presence, because, let's face it, those are rare on our side of the aisle; people like Alan Colmes and Paul Begala are always paired with bloviators who make us look like wimps, and Rosie can out-bloviate just about anyone. That combined with her femaleness is probably an upsetting combination to most people, but I'm glad she's around because I know if she's repping for us in a debate, she will win, or at the least they won't run over her.

it's ridiculous to hold ANY celebrity up as a representative for a point of view.
Clooney does it best - he says what he believes, and also states that he's just an American expressing his point of view. He doesn't claim to represent anybody or anything.
We should stop considering celebrities to be representatives for anything, unless they run for office, or get hired to present a point of view.
They no more represent liberals than I do.

She is speaking for & representing herself. I don't have any problem with that. I don't always agree with her opinions as I'm sure she wouldn't agree with all of mine.
I like her.

I cannot stand O'Donnell. I don't find her remotely funny, I don't value her opinions, and I think she is very insecure. For someone to continually sit around finding people to pick on for no reason, and to go out of her way the way O'Donnell does, indicates to me she has disturbing issues of her own she should be dealing with.
Quite frankly, I've never understood why she is even behind a camera of any kind. She is not funny, and as far as I'm concerned not even remotely talented.

What a crazy night...me in my jockies, Rosie in her corset and thigh highs, and John Goodman taping the whole thing, wearing nothing but a bra. It was magical.

people just needed to back down. You need to know when to let your opponents make assholes of themselves and not participate in it, eventually they will realize how stupid they look and give it up.

30. I highly respect her work with children. |
|
I respect her a lot more now that she is officially out, and working hard as an example that same-sex couples are just as capable of raising loving families as straight couples are.
With that said, she is an obnoxious blowhard who will pretty much say anything and everything to keep herself in the limelight. I cannot stand her in that respect.

She is what she is. I suspect her impact is more negative than positive, precisely for the same reason some people look up to her, for her aggressiveness on issues. I think that puts off the people that could help swing opinion polls, elections, etc., and that is not something that liberals can afford to do in this country at this time. Doesn't mean she can't disagree or debate, but she can do it in a better way, I think, so as to not turn off so many people.
