What are the tackiest Christmas decorations you love to hate? |
|
Mine are the inflatable santas, snowmen, etc. that then collapse ignominiously on the lawn during the day when the power is cut off. Folks, if you are going to put up that tacky shit at least leave the power on during the day so that it doesn't look like something the trash collecter should cart off. Geez louise!

The neck of one of my neighbor's reindeer came loose and now it's just eating grass the whole time  it's funny but it also looks like an animal with it's neck broken which is just depressing, they really need to take that down.

13. Some neighbors up the street have those. Two deer, |
|
one moves. The moving one COMPLETELY freaks out the beagle. She barks and bays and lunges at it, like a crazed killer beagle. So we stopped walking that way, until the deer go away.

8. We have some friends with an inflatable manger scene... |
|
They are really lovely, kind, bright people. I have no idea what they find appealing in a blow-up baby Jesus.

7. Inflatables, definitely. |
|
They are the worst, cheesiest, tackiest, most obviously made in China by ten-year-old slaves of any cheap, tacky Christmas decorations. And when they deflate they look like The Jolly Green Giant's used condoms.

15. I was toying with the idea of parking my Honda motorcycle in the yard and sitting an inflatable |
|
Santa on it and then stringing lights around the cycle. But I was afraid the wife might leave me if I did. So I nixed the idea.

17. An inflatable santa kneeling in front of an inflatable manger would max out the tackiness meter. |
|
What is it about Christmas that obliterates the tackiness judgement of many people?

18. Just Say No to inflatables |
|
What I don't get is when I see them in the "nice" neighborhoods. Beautifully maintained million dollar houses (not that a million is that much these days) with professionally-kept lawns and those goddawful Wall Mart plastic pieces of crap littering the yard. Maybe the mortgage is eating up these people's pay-checks, but if you can't afford to decorate tastefully, then just stick a red velvet bow on your door. But those inflatables seem to selectively infest the more expensive pieces of real estate in these parts.
More evidence - if any is needed - that the American public has been dumbed-down cruelly in recent years.
My grandparents used to have a particularly depraved-looking stuffed Santa that they placed on their front porch every December. It always creeped my parents and me out - he had the kind of leer on his face that made one suspect that the DOC wouldn't allow him within a half mile of an elementary school. But compared to inflatables my grandparents' disheveled Saint Nick was a model of good taste.
