My son just asked me what "preferation" meant. I told him I didn't think it was a word; and suggested that he might mean "perforation". But I googled "preferation" anyway, just to see if I was wrong.
I couldn't find any dictionary that included the word; but found 1,750 entries...written by people who used this instead of perforation or preference.
Somebody please pass the Preferation H.

The other day he was talking about some video game, and told me the most poiGnant (pronounced poyg-nant) part of the game was...such and such. I corrected his pronounciation, and asked if he knew what the word meant. He replied that he didn't, but he guessed that it meant "really emotional". Not bad for a 9 year old.

12. Perhaps the song was mixolydian and the lyrics do not of themselves reveal the |
|
potential overall beauty therein. Or some other interesting key signature or time signature. Or was played through all-tube equipment and sounds really good.
Cough.

I can like that type of music, if it's not so repetetive, but the voice and "lyrics" are a dealbreaker. http://youtube.com/watch?v=lu4rUYI5N7U&feature=related

It's pretty boring, except for the overuse of profanity, which annoys my aesthetic preferences.

Edit: According to Wikipedia, both Norwegian Wood and Louie Louie are mixolydian.

That's the mixolydian mode.

23. That was just an example in layman's terms... |
|
Modes were used in the earliest known Western music (gregorian chant), and were named for similar scales used by the ancient Greeks.
Modes can begin on any note. The sequences of half steps and whole steps (hereafter called "h" and "w")is what defines them. To describe them simply: Using only the white notes of the piano D = Dorian w h w w w h w E = Phrygian h w w w h w w F = Lydian w w w h w w h G = Mixolydian w w h w w h w A = Aeolian w h w w h w w B = Locrian h w w h w w w C = Ionian w w h w w w h
The Ionian and Aeolian modes are quickly recognized as the major and natural minor scales that we're familiar with today. The Locrian mode was considered more a theoretical mode, as it was awkward to sing.
But modes are often used in contemporary music and in pop music.

I said no. I am actually sorry I didn't get piano lessons! At age 37, I am a total brat! Well there is hope for the future generation.
