What the HELL did they do to my beloved Andromeda Strain? (No spoilers) |
|
All I have to say about that abomination is, I don't know if I should laugh or cry. Whoever is responsible for that pile of festering horse shit should be taken out and force-fed THE most lethal mutation of the strain that can be found.
Good Lord, what were they thinking?
I now have to find my DVD of the original and watch it just so I can get the taste of the "updated" one out of my head.
:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:
:nuke: :nuke: :nuke:
(BTW, there were way WAY WAY too many old TV cops trying to figure out how to REALLY act in this one, IMO NOT too successfully...)

4. "Remake" is a term best used loosely here. |

I watched because I figured the story was good enough that they couldn't go wrong. Umm, guess they could. The story was butchered. The acting was insanely bad, and I'm usually not fussy when it comes to acting skills. I laughed at a couple serious spots-- the human car wash was too funny.

6. The funniest part was the birds attacking the flak-jacketed soldiers |
|
...decked out in the Kevlar helmets and all that military-grade padding, and they still freaked like squealing little girls over a few dive-bombing birdies...

12. Funny you say that, because I told a friend today that only "Plan 9" was worse than this crap! |
|
At least Plan 9 was so bad it was funny. This was so bad it was just BAD!

I loved the book. I loved the original movie. This was an abomination. One decent actor in the whole damned mess (Viola Davis (the African-American scientist)) -- bad script, bad acting, cartoon villains (government and Pentagon), president doing bad George Bush imitation ... the scientific explanation made no sense ... they HAD to inject a romance into it ...
UGH UGH UGH ... HORRIBLE piece of SHIT!
I give it an F minus.

I have to forget that he's a global warming denier (he's rich, of COURSE he doesn't want anything threatening his comfy world!) when I think of Andromeda or watch "ER."
Interesting notes from his IMDB bio:
Spouses: Sherri Alexander (May 2005 - present) Anne-Marie Martin (1987 - 2002) (divorced) 1 child Suzanne Childs (22 October 1981 - ?) (divorced) Kathy St. Johns (31 December 1978 - 1980) (divorced) Joan Radam (1965 - 1970) (divorced)
(TYPICAL REPUBLICAN)
Also, "He was exorcised in 1986." Um... exorcised? To put the demons in or take them out, or what?

I knew I wasn't making a big mistake in deciding not to watch this remake, the frequent trailer ads cast on A&E network told me what I needed to know, but you just confirmed it. :)
