I know "Photoshopped" or "I am going to Photoshop this" fly in the face of Adobe's demands, but it's like running with scissors. It just feels so right, you know?

But I suggest that we all meet Adobe halfway, and from now on write:

"I just Photoshopped© this today!"

OR

"I am going to Photoshop© that later!"

(Hint: on a PC, if you hold down the "Alt" key and type 0169 on the numeric keypad, you generate a copyright symbol).

That way EVERYBODY will be happy...or NOT.

photos were altered by artists using airbushes and paints. We transferred our original film -- be it 35mm, 2 1/4, 4 x 5 or 8 x 10 -- to large C-prints or Dye Transfer Prints, usually 36" x 24." Then we'd instruct the artist to change the photo in much the same way it is done today using Photoshop: remove blemishes or wrinkles from a portrait, enhance a plate a food, clean-up a package, etc. Photoshop allows for some awesome results, but it was pretty amazing what a good airbush artist could do too given a little imagination and planning. Often times two photos were put together as one, such as the example below.
