Anybody else hate today's electronics? |
|
I just got an HDTV from Best Buy. Geek Squad hooked it up and networked in my laptop. Yesterday Brighthouse Networks came and got my digital cable hooked up. Both worked. Tonight I made the mistakr of adjusting the shelf under the cable modem. I didn't dare disconnect the modem; I was afraid I wouldn't put it back tohether right. I got the shelf back in place, and now the stupid TV doesn't work! I checked all the connections; they're all right as far as I can tell. But I can't get a picture or change channels. The instruction books are useless. So now I'll have to call Best Buy (on Black Friday, no less) and have them come back unless they can figure out the problem over the phone. Why should it take a degree in engineering just to watch TV? :banghead:

see if there is an 'input' or 'source' button on your tv remote and if you can switch between different options

I had already tried that too. No matter which option I try, I get the same message on the TV screen that says "No signal. Check the external output or select another input using the INPUT button."

4. The shelf under the cable modem? |
|
Modem or cable box? If it's the cable box, power it and the tv down for 5 minutes, then turn them back on. Today's cheap-shit cable boxes often (at least here) need to "reset" themselves after any sort of trauma.

6. I'll go with flvegan's suggestion |
|
But add that if turning them off for a few minutes didn't do it. Try it again, but, unplug them from the wall for a few minutes.

11. That's damn near EXACTLY what I was going to post. |
|
I started with a TI calculator that had memory for about 520 program instructions and ten memory registers. Then I moved on to a HeathKit (6809?) with a hex pad and 4-digit LED display. From there it was an Apple II, C=64, etc.
And I'M fucking confused by some of the new stuff. Fortunately, I have kids to figure it out for me (like the fucking phone for example).

Phaw! All the cool kids using their fancy tubes while I have to rely on steam powered interwebs.
