What flavor. I like suckers. (Oh and the connotations of that sentence will haunt me.)

3. Having finally gone (first and only time) I agree |
|
Found some good deals, but the line for the cashiers went all the way around the store - TWICE. You had to find the employee with the red balloon to even find out where the end of the line was. Average wait? Over THREE HOURS.
I was picking up some gifts for a child I picked from a local charity. Needless to say, I didn't hang around. I will gladly pay full price for those gifts to avoidnthe hassle and actually get some sleep.

4. Yep, I totally agree. I went to one Black Friday sale |
|
about 10 years ago. Never again. Even the low prices don't make the hassle of standing in line and then fighting the crowds of bargain shoppers worth it. And not to mention trying to find a parking space.

5. Parking challenges--that's me out right there. And bargain shoppers are CRAZY. |
|
I like a bargain, but part of the joy of a bargain is that it reduces stress. So those you have to blow your BP to get? Not bargains. Getting some broken bones or a bullet in your body to obtain them on top of the stress? The definition of non-bargain.

Black Friday is a testament to how easily manipulated the masses are by corporations and the corporate media

8. Count me a sucker. First time in my life shopping today. A friend was begging for a new phone set at |
|
COSTCO, but doesn't have a card. So I took her, my kid and hers, and bought that (she reimbursed me). There was hardly anyone in the parking lot, so that was a breeze. The price of gas had gone down about sixty cents and I filled up.
Then we went to another place to return something and I bought some groceries and there was hardly anyone there, either. Then went out to eat on my kid's dime to make up for not being to do Thanksgiving. All in all, it was one of the best days yet; we just wanted to spend time together in the brilliant but cold weather.
But I don't hold to going and getting in a push for anything. And it wasn't that way. I don't do sales on anything, most sales are on things that are way too expensive to begin with and not necessities.
So my first and hopefully last Black Friday was great.

9. can't think of any real reason to get up that early |
|
when I was a teen/college student, we used to go out to the mall at noon-ish and walk around, and have lunch. Maybe buy a few things. See the trains, Santa, the kids. It was kind of cute.
But this obsessive need to stand outside a store for hours on end, make folks work when they should have a day off, just to buy cheap crap since the stuff they advertise to get folks into the store in the first place will be all gone? Makes no sense to me, frankly.

I have never tried to do Black Friday deals, having gone most of my life being oblivious that this day existed.
Hey, when you do w/o TV you can miss a lot.
"Catch the brave men when they dive from the Fauteenth Flaaaaaaw!"
I just thought it was nothing more than a good song. ; )
It's going to be my Boycott Shopping Day from now on. . . . unless I happen to be fresh out of coffee or gas.

13. I have no energy for things like that (no money either) |
|
How can people feel like running out ad SHOPPING after binging on all that food? I need a day or two to recover from THAT. Also we got some tractor/road repair today:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
bad enough I couldn't take a nap while other people were working, I can't imagine driving and fighting crowds to spend money I don't have on crappy crap.

14. Went to the movies today to see "Hugo," since everyone else was at the malls. |
|
Big movie that just came out, and the theater wasn't crowded. Loved the movie; it was my first 3D movie, and I found it amazing. Of course, Scorsese made it, and that man is a genius as a director.

20. I had fun with it, but my goals were small. |
|
I did all my Friday shopping on my bicycle, about 18.5 miles, so I burned off some Thanksgiving calories. There was a sale at Walgreens on the generic version of prevacid, which my husband takes. The deal was you buy it for $19, and get $8 in store dollars. I used the $8 to buy a pound of chia seeds (high protein, high fiber, and I'm doing a high protein slow carb diet). That was $10, and I got $10 back in store dollars. I just did a bike tour of local walgreens and flipped those two transactions back and forth.
Each round saved me 6 or 7 dollars off what I would have paid at costco for their generic version plus generated the free lb. canister of seeds. It was beautiful weather and it was like getting paid to exercise. And now I know that I like the seeds sprinkled on salad or dumped into my coffee like bubble tea, but I do not like them in lemon water - my vegan daughter is right, that's like drinking a cup of snot. :D
